Pastoral Staff

The Pastoral Staff, under the guidance of the Diocesan Bishop, is responsible for the worship & liturgical observances of the church and the ongoing Christian formation of the congregation.

Rev. Charlie Vensel, Rector

Rev. Charlie Vensel is a native of Jacksonville, FL. He and Frances met in 1987 and married in 1991. They have two adult children, Sam and Ellie. Charlie attended seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL where he earned his M.Div. degree.

Charlie has planted, merged, and pastored churches in Florida, Colorado, South Carolina, and now Georgia, when he accepted the call to be the Rector (Sr. Pastor) of Christ the King Church in the fall of 2022. Charlie describes his calling as, “Helping people discover who God made them to be…and how to get there.”


Rev. Darlene Collom, Deacon

Rev. Darlene Collom, Deacon

Rev. Darlene Collom is a native of Winston, Georgia. She and her husband, Kurt, married in 1987 and have three children and nine grandchildren. Besides Georgia, Darlene has lived in Alaska, Florida and California. She received her Certificate in Diaconal Studies from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies are camping, hiking, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene grew up Baptist but has been a part of the Anglican Church since 2005. She was ordained to the diaconate in 2021. She describes herself as the donkey Jesus rides on. Darlene says her calling is to carry Jesus to people so he can do the work of setting them free, as in John 8:36: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”


Elders

The Elders, under the guidance of the Rector, are involved with the spiritual direction and leadership of the church, responsible for the church’s financial & legal affairs, and for assuring the church property is adequately maintained.
