Friends

Christ the King Church has many opportunities to make friends…friends that usually end up being counted as family. And, family and friends love to hear what’s happening in each others lives over a meal.

Rector’s AMA Breakfasts

Charlie+ would love to get to know you better. He hosts a very informal AMA (Ask Me Anything) breakfast at Main Street Grill on certain Thursdays from 9AM-10:00AM. He can host up to three people per breakfast. Be sure to check our calendar for the next date. Contact Charlie+ for more information.

Sunday Lunches

This is very organic. Many of our parishioners make lunch plans while at the church service, and go in groups to local restaurants. There is always room for new and more people. We love to support our local businesses and bless the servers with generous tips.

Regular Potlucks

About 6 times per year, our congregation gathers for a potluck lunch on Sunday after the service. There are usually sign up sheets in the Fellowship Hall a week or two the event where people choose what to bring. This helps make sure we have plenty in every category from sides, to salads, to desserts, and occasionally the main courses. When possible, we try to time the potlucks to fall on  holidays and New Member Celebrations. Be sure to check our calendar for the next date. Contact Pam Smith for more information.

Men’s Breakfasts

The men of the church host the Men’s Breakfast on the first Saturday of every month at 9AM in the Fellowship Hall. Many of the guys arrive early to help cook. The breakfast lasts about an hour. Someone usually has something to share about a worthy local ministry our cause. Occasionally they have a speaker. While there is no cost to attend, donations are accepted and the money raise is donated to a ministry the men decide on each month. Be sure to check our calendar for the next date. Contact Gary Miller for more information.

Ladies Christmas Brunch
Brasstown Valley Resort

Ladies’ Luncheons

Each month the ladies of the church have a luncheon, usually in a local restaurant. Reservations are appreciated. In effort to simplify things, the lunch is all on one ticket and a hat is passed to pay the bill and leave a very generous tip. Be sure to check the calendar for the next date. Contact Pam Smith for more information.

Ladies’ High Tea

Each year the ladies gather for High Tea. The tea, desserts, decorations, place settings, and china are beautiful. Hats and gloves are optional. Be sure to check our calendar for the next  date. Contact Judy Mamo for more information.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

Right before the start of Lent, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the men of the church sponsor the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, complete with local sausage and bacon. In this spirit of Fat Tuesday, it is our last time to indulge in rich, sweet food before many people begin their Lenten fasts. Be sure to check our calendar for the next date. Contact Gary Miller for more information.

Spaghetti Dinner

Every fall the Fellowship Hall turns into a little Italian town, complete with all the decorations. A team of talented New Yorkers prepare an authentic spaghetti dinner for us. Funds raised are donated the Towns County Sheriff’s Shop with a Sheriff program, where local LEOs take at risk elementary students Christmas shopping. Be sure to check our calendar for the next date. Contact Wayne Fiorito for more information.

Thanksgiving Day Lunch

Christ the King Church always hosts a Thanksgiving Day Lunch around noon on the big day. So many of our members stay in town for Thanksgiving and cooking the traditional meal for just themselves is a lot of work, so why not celebrate it with your church family? The church provides the main course and parishioners bring sides and desserts. It is always well attended and the food is absolutely amazing. Of course, guests are always welcome. Contact Pam Smith for more information.

Christmas Day Lunch

For many of the same reasons as we host the Thanksgiving Day Lunch, we also do a Christmas Day Lunch. It is served about noon, right after the Christmas Day Service. The church provides the main course and parishioners bring sides and desserts. Friends and family are always welcome. Contact Pam Smith for more information.
